Kratos
Kratos is the protagonist of Santa Monica Studio's God of War line — a Spartan who rose through Greek mythology, then resurfaced decades later as a father navigating Norse myth. The tonal swing between eras is one of the most discussed arcs in modern action games.
Greek-era Kratos is blunt trauma as storytelling; Norse-era Kratos actually tries to model restraint for his son. God of War (2018) still works as a cold start, but the reboot lands harder if you know why older fans argued about him for years.
