Hideo Kojima

Hideo Kojima is a Japanese game director born in 1963, associated with cinematic stealth action, fourth-wall experimentation, and cutscene-heavy storytelling that splits audiences between admiration and impatience — sometimes in the same forum thread.

At Konami he steered the Metal Gear Solid era before departing in 2015 and founding Kojima Productions. The first independent project, Death Stranding, doubled down on courier-sim pacing and oddball casting choices; love-it-or-hate-it discourse followed, which is almost on-brand.
