PS3 Games Worth Buying Physically in 2024

Sony shut the PS3 store's "buy new digital games" window — if you already own stuff, downloads still work for now, but you can't fix regrets with a fresh purchase. Discs are the open market. Prices only know one direction once people panic together.

Why this list exists

Physical is often the only way to play or own these going forward — exclusives that never left the cellar, oddballs never ported, or games where the disc is cheaper than therapy when FOMO hits.

Discs people actually hunt

Metal Gear Solid 4 — still PS3-native, still no modern storefront rescue. Pair it with our Metal Gear order page when you're ready to suffer beautifully.

Demon's Souls (original) hits different from the PS5 remake — jank and all. The Last of Us on PS3 is its own texture; remasters exist, but the first print has vibes.

Valkyria Chronicles landed elsewhere later, but PS3 copies stayed cheap forever — grab before someone makes a TikTok about it. 3D Dot Game Heroes and Folklore are the "never rereleased" crowd — weird, wonderful, and suddenly not funny money. Tokyo Jungle started life PSN-heavy; physical prints are the flex now.

Region-free bonus

PS3 games aren't region-locked — if you find a Japanese exclusive you've been curious about, the hardware won't fight you. Shipping might.
