Konami
Konami is a Japanese publisher founded in 1969. For many players it represents one of the most admired console lineups of the 1990s and 2000s — with Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill 2, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night frequently cited on all-time lists. Those releases set expectations for cinematic stealth, psychological horror, and exploratory action that later franchises still echo.
In 2015 the company’s long-running collaboration with director Hideo Kojima ended, which effectively closed the Metal Gear chapter many fans grew up with. Since the early 2020s, Silent Hill has returned as a label with multiple new projects in public development — useful context if you are weighing which era to revisit first.
