Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog is a California developer founded in 1984 and owned by Sony since 2001. The team has effectively reinvented itself with each hardware jump — Crash Bandicoot on PS1, Jak and Daxter on PS2, Uncharted on PS3, and The Last of Us on PS3/PS4/PS5 — each wave leaning further into cinematic pacing and motion-captured performances.
The PS1 Crash trilogy gave Sony a family-friendly mascot platformer before Super Mario 64 redefined what 3D hopping could feel like globally. Jak followed with darker city chapters and open-ended missions that took cues from contemporary action titles. Uncharted pushed adoption of set-piece storytelling, while The Last of Us pairing of stealth and drama won the studio some of the strongest critical scores on PlayStation hardware.
