Rare
Rare is a British developer founded in 1985 and part of Xbox Game Studios since 2002. During its Nintendo second-party years it shipped an unusually dense run of SNES and Nintendo 64 hits — Donkey Kong Country, Banjo-Kazooie, and GoldenEye 007, among others — often within the same console generation.
GoldenEye 007 (1997) became the touchstone console first-person shooter for years of dorm-room split-screen. Banjo-Kazooie refined collectathon pacing for the N64, while Conker’s Bad Fur Day aimed deliberately adult humor at an audience Nintendo‘s own mascots would not target — all factual context collectors cite when shopping for authentic cartridges.
